The generosity of our supporters helps make a real difference to the lives of the older people who live in Auchlochan Garden Village. Donations help provide special support for people living with dementia and services like chaplaincy that enhance life for the 400 people who have made their home here.
The need for development.
It is our ambition to continue developing our 50 acre Garden Village, which includes a Walled Garden, so that more people can join this unique community in the heart of Lanarkshire. We are really excited that The Retreat, offering 24 new apartments, was completed in July 2011 and work on Phase 2a, which will include the final four apartments, is now complete and awaiting Habitation Certificates. We also want to make sure we offer as wide a range of social and leisure facilities as we possibly can. We are delighted to announce our brand new Village Centre was officially opened by Nicola Sturgeon, Scotland’s Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing, on a sunny day in June.
This new Village Centre has been designed to help residents to remain active and socialise with friends and neighbours through offering a number of new facilities. The Centre boasts a hair and beauty salon, therapy suite offering physiotherapy, podiatry and reflexology, an arts and craft suite studio, shop and café bistro.
There are also plans to develop a library with an IT facilities suite as well as a Wellness Suite to promote physical and mental well-being. A planned Spirituality of Ageing Centre will offer an opportunity for study and reflection.
We have already raised a significant part of the £1.5 million needed to make this development happen. However, we need your help to be able to offer some of the additional, life-enhancing, communal facilities that will make a difference to the lives of hundreds of older people – now and in the future.
