MHA was founded in 1943 as an independent charity. As the Second World War drew to a close (and at a time when the Welfare State was yet to be established) MHA's mission was to improve the quality of life of older people, inspired by Christian concern. This mission remains as relevant today.
Auchlochan’s own distinct history began in 1974 with the vision of one Christian family, whose aim was to establish a single care home for older people. Nowadays, the beautiful Auchlochan Village comprises a comprehensive range of retirement properties and care homes.
In 2009, Auchlochan Garden Village was formed. This move provided Auchlochan with the financial and organisational base that it needs for further growth and ensures a home for life for all who live here.
